What is a Fiduciary?

A Fiduciary is required to place their client’s interest ahead of their own and to act with undivided loyalty to their clients. SEC registered investment advisors are required to be Fiduciaries, while stock brokers are not. Although some brokers may call themselves advisors, if you are in doubt, ask your advisor to put in writing that they will act in a fiduciary capacity in their dealings with you.
